Alduine - Blended Malt Scotch Whisky - 25 Years Old - Whisky Facile

Speyside's best-kept secret distillery is Kininvie: built in 1990 by William Grant to provide the bulk for their flagship Monkey Shoulder blend, it's a small gem in the town of Dufftown. When a rare batch is sold to independent bottlers, it goes by the name of Aldunie and is formally a blended malt, with a teaspoon of Balvenie.

This ex-Bourbon barrel was one of the first barrels we purchased several years ago, and it clearly shows the potential of this malt, rounded by 25 years of aging. Notes of yellow fruit, custard, cream, and honey candies make the nose a seductive experience - and the seduction is completed on the palate, when the round and elegant sweetness marries with spices, honey, and cinnamon. A drop of water releases the fruit on the palate and makes it a true champion.
