Brewers at heart, distillers by talent, they are responsible for the fruitiest single malt in the States, and it was precisely this powerful and explosive fruitiness that made us fall in love with single cask 109-2. The malt whisky made from Baronesse barley (a semi-extinct variety reintroduced in Washington State) rested for almost six years in a refill barrel that had previously contained Copperworks. The result is a super intense mix of fruity notes ranging from crisp apples to mango and papaya, leading to a finish with amazing thyme notes. Fruit salad has never been so grunge.
