Great Northern Distillery - Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey - 5 Years Old - Whisky Facile

<<In County Louth, just a stone's throw from the Ulster border, stands the Great Northern Distillery, founded in 2015 by John Teeling, an icon of Irish whiskey and already the "father" of the Cooley distillery.

For our first Irish, we chose a Single Pot Still, the most emblematic style of the Green Isle, which involves the use of a portion of unmalted barley (30%), which gives a certain fresh creaminess to the sip and a spicy and inviting finish.

Our whiskey is no exception, indeed: after resting for almost six years in bourbon barrel #163821, we chose to reduce it to an abv of 51.3%, and the result is an explosion of fruity notes with very "green" nuances. Granny Smith apple, fresh citrus, a hint of caramel serve as an introduction to an enveloping, creamy yet crisp palate, with a spicy and balanced finish where the vanilla from the barrel joins the pepper from the distillate. >>
